Dear Church Family,
Greetings! We are just about one week from Easter. This pre-Easter season, often referred to as Lent, is an invitation to think deeply about the reality of physical death, about the reality of spiritual death and to long for a rescue from both.
Sojourn Church is hosting a week at Safe Harbor Homeless Shelter this Spring Break (March 24-31)
Here’s the latest:
As of this morning, we have 81 of the 137 volunteer positions filled. Way to go Church! Although most volunteer opportunities still have openings, our most critical need continues to be the overnight shift.
Young Life Benefit Night - Visit Culver's at the 101 US Hwy 31 S location on Wednesday, March 14th from 5:00 - 8:00pm and be served by some awesome Young Life students and leaders!

This Spring Break, March 24-31, Sojourn Church will be caring for our local homeless population by staffing the all new, permanent shelter near downtown Traverse City.
What is Lent? The word “Lent” comes from the Old English word “lengten,” which simply means “spring” — when the days lengthen and new life springs forth.
Over the last 8+ years our church has learned a lot. One of the many areas of growth has been in regard to God’s design for church governance.
Many of you may not be aware that Sojourn has a special scholarship fund to offer needed assistance to families who are interested in sending their children to camp.
Over the last few years we have grown a lot and learned a lot. God has been so faithful and generous to us as a church. We have much to be thankful for.
Join Sojourn women for snacks, drinks, an opportunity to come meet those gals and leave having made new friends! Hope to see you there!
On Sunday, February 11 at 6 PM we will have our Annual Members Meeting. There will be food, music, updates and prayer. We will celebrate what God has been doing here at Sojourn and we will spend some time looking forward to 2018. If you are a member, we want you to be there! We have much to be thankful for as well as much to pray about.
This past Sunday, 9 people were baptized! Our hearts are full! How wonderful it was to hear their testimonies on how God continues to work in each of their lives. What a celebration!!
Many of you were here to share in the day, but if you were not, here is one of the testimonies from Sunday:
This Sunday we have 9 people getting baptized! We will have six at the first service and three at the second service so regardless of which one you attend you will get to celebrate God's work.
The snow is falling and it is December...Christmas season is in full swing! As you manage your calendar and Christmas list, we want to invite you to dwell on the coming of Jesus and daily advent readings are a great help in doing so. Below is an advent poem written by Paul Tripp. We hope it encourages you as you are reminded that grace came down in the form of a person! Merry Christmas!
Ephraim and Molly Costilow are in the middle of the adoption journey. They are members here at Sojourn and, if you don't know them, you will recognize Molly as one of our gifted vocalists who lead us in worship. Here is a little bit of their story.
As we look forward to Thanksgiving, it is very likely that we will experience the complexities of life. Some will celebrate and some will struggle...many will do both. Friends and family are such great gifts but the relational strain that often comes in a broken world can be devastating.
Here is a prayer by Scotty Smith to help us infuse the gospel into our holiday.
I was struck this past week by a renown disciple makers passion over his 89 years to faithfully invest his life in coming alongside others to make disciples. The fly leaf of his Bible holds hundreds of names of those he has discipled…in order to pray for their continued growth. What a testament of a life well lived, one that is finishing well. I too want to finish well.
Don't Forget To Wear Your Team CYCLEBREAKER T-Shirt This Sunday!
This Sunday, November 12th, churches around the world will be observing Orphan Sunday.
On November 12th, churches around the world will be observing Orphan Sunday. On this Sunday, as they’ve been doing for many years now, churches will be standing for the orphan: listening to God’s call to care for the child that has no family, reflecting on God’s great love for the fatherless, and looking for ways to respond to God’s great love by being his hands and feet.
One week from today, on Thursday, October 26th from 7-9pm, Sojourn is going to simulcast Q Commons - a nation-wide event presented by Q.
