This is our one big summer party when we feast on a low country boil while enjoying the beach at Greilickville Park. It's scheduled for Friday, July 19th.
As the work day came to a close this past Monday, Ben Whipple began his eight-week sabbatical. Our staff had the privilege of praying with him Monday morning and then sending him off at the end of the day.
This coming Sunday, June 30th, we will gather at 10am for a combined worship service at The City Opera House in downtown Traverse City. Doors will open at 9:30am. We had such a great time last year…you will not want to miss it.
As a church, we desire to be a praying church and have a posture of prayer. As Pastor Matt shared with us this past week, prayer is continuing a conversation that God already started through His word and His grace. We are praying to a good Father! With that in mind, we would like to invite you to join us in a few prayer opportunities.
The World Race is an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries around the world. Through the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to share the Gospel, plant churches, work with children who are orphaned, minister to people who are trapped in prostitution, and support people in their lives, whatever that looks like day to day.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) is our June day of fasting. We have shared a number of times the importance of fasting and that Jesus expected his followers to be fasting ("when you fast..." Matthew 6:16). So we encourage you to join us!

Here at Sojourn, we have decided to set aside a number of days this year to fast as a church family. We typically do it on the first Wednesday of the month (ex. May 1, June 5) but this month we are encouraging you to fast on Holy Saturday (April 20, this Saturday).
Palm Sunday is the day that Jesus triumphantly entered Jerusalem as a King. It also was the beginning of the last week of Jesus' earthly life. So there are two aspects to our observation of this holy day: joy and sobriety.

Fasting is a discipline that can be intimidating but it does improve with practice so, here at Sojourn, we set aside a few days this year to fast as a church family.

Sojourn Church is hosting a week at Safe Harbor Homeless Shelter February 16-23, 2019.
