During the next 9 weeks while Pastor Matt is on sabbatical, we have 9 gentlemen who will be sharing with us God's word through Proverbs. We are so thankful for their willingness to fill the pulpit at Sojourn Church and know that they will bless our church family this summer.
Lou Damiani -
Lou Damiani has served in a part time capacity on Sojourn staff team for the past 4 years. Prior to Sojourn, he served full-time in 3 different pastorates over 23 years. He also presently serves with The Navigators throughout Michigan and Ohio as a disciple-making coach for pastors and church leaders. He and his wife, Patti, have been married for 46 years and have 4 children and 16 grandchildren.
Josh Foor -
After working at Sojourn Community Church in Louisville, KY and completing his MDiv at Southern Seminary, Josh and his wife Camille moved to Big Rapids, MI to be the lead pastor at Big Rapids First Baptist Church in 2015. They have a super fun foster baby, a baby on the way, and a German Shepherd named Rosie. Jesus and the human flourishing found in him is Josh's greatest passion. Josh enjoys bikes, drinking good coffee in the morning with Camille, and trying his hand at woodworking and home improvement projects.
Eric Freeman -
Eric Freeman is a native Michigander and former member of Sojourn Church. After completing his pastoral internship under Matt and Ben's guidance in 2013, Eric was sent out to Covenant Seminary (St. Louis, MO) to continue his training and studies for ministry. Eric has since returned to Michigan and has recently completed a one-year pastoral residency in Clio and is looking forward to the next ministry opportunity God has for them in northern Michigan. Eric is married to his wife Julie, and they spend most of their days together chasing after their puppy Roo.
Marc Herron -
Marc and his wife Amanda have four children: Paige (10), Luke (8), Johanna (6) & Owen (2). He is a graduate of Clarks Summit University (B.S. 2000, M.A. 2015) and has served as the Youth/ Associate Pastor at First Baptist Church of Caro, MI since 2002.
Eric Johnson -
Eric Johnson teaches counseling at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is also involved in pastoral care at Sojourn East in Louisville, KY. His parents were raised in Beulah, MI, and he and his wife, Rebekah, have enjoyed coming up to the family cottage in Beulah every summer for the past three decades.
Ryan Kolle -
Ryan Kolle is an elder at Sojourn Church and has been a member since 2000. Ryan became a believer in 1982, when he became convinced he needed to repent and accept Jesus as his savior. Ryan has been a doctor of chiropractic since April of 1983 and was licensed to practice in the State of Michigan that same year. Chiropractic runs in my family. Ryan has served as a Sunday School Teacher (Children and Adults), Sunday School Superintendent, Youth Group Leader (with Mary), Congregational Song Leader, Deacon, and Small Group/Community Group leader. Small group ministry has been an exciting part of my local church experience. He has also been involved with N.M. DeColores and Freedom Builders ministries. He and his wife, Mary, have been married for 31 year and have 3 children.
Tim Manzer -
Tim Manzer feels he is best known as Jen Anderson's dad. Kevin and Jen Anderson attend Sojourn. He has been part of New Hope Community Church's staff for the last 17 as a care/counseling pastor. In the past, he had been a youth pastor, camp program director, juvenile delinquent group worker, wilderness guide etc. He loves to tell stories, so it will be story-time at Sojourn. Oh yes, and he was Kim Herron's youth pastor!!
Ben Whipple -
Ben Whipple is our Pastor of Worship & Community at Sojourn and has served here since July 2010. He and his wife, Janet, have 3 children: Isaac (8), Micah (7) and Claire (5).
Don Whipple -
Since October of 2015, Don Whipple is the executive director of Bethesda Outreach Ministries, which focuses on developing future leadership from South Africa and leading organizational change toward assisting churches to develop orphan care ministry. Don has been a pastor since 1975 and retired from Kossuth Street Baptist Church in Lafayette, IN in 2015. He and his wife, Sue, live in LaGrange, Ohio and have 3 sons and 8 grandchildren.
