Three things you should know about Sojourn.
We're in process.
Its easy to go to church and play the dress-up game, to put on the mask and put your best foot forward. We all do it. But we want you to know: we're not that good at faking it. We're real people, with real problems, and our goal is not to put on a show, but to come to Jesus openly and honestly, because he sees us as we are. And he still invites us in.
Not for ourselves.
We are a church that seeks to come to Jesus and follow him. As we come to him, he changes our hearts to align with his heart, our desires to align with his desires. And what is Jesus all about? He isn't about pleasing himself, but about loving people in the most ultimate way. As we then follow him, we must also not be about pleasing ourselves. We want to please Jesus by loving what (and who) he loves.
All we need is the Gospel.
This is the beating heart of our church, the radical center from which everything else flows. The gospel is the good news that Jesus came to redeem us from our sins and bring us back to God through his life, death, and resurrection. The gospel reminds us of who God is, who we are, who Jesus is, and where all of this is headed. It is the craziest story you'll ever hear. And its true.
